DANIEL (Year 2)
I really enjoy coming to Saturday class at LEARNING KEYS because it’s different from regular school. The best part is learning new things in a relaxed environment. I also love coming to Saturday classes to see Mr Joshiwer. He has a firm voice. He helps me with my work and he is not too strict. He is a grown man and he wears glasses.
The teachers make learning fun and we often do a lot of activities like art, games and other creative things. I write a lot of things when I come to Saturday school like a story about how a cat called Jessie escaped from home. I made a small story book called ‘The Escape’
I also like making new friends because we share the same interests. We all get a chance to ask questions and we participate in small groups.
I look forward to going to my Saturday classes every week because thy are fun and it is a great way to spend the weekend with my friends.
What I want to improve on when I get to Year 3
When I get to Year 3, I want to improve on my drawing skills. Also, I want to improve on my handwriting, spellings, Maths and English.

Joel (Year 3)
Learning Keys is a fun place to learn.
I like it when we learn Maths, English and other subjects like handwriting, comprehension and making new friends like Daniel and Jemuel. I like colouring and snack time too.
I also like it when it’s nice and cool on a sunny day.
But I don’t like it when we sit on the floor to learn. However, I know it helps me because all the Year 3’s in my class get more space and by doing this we don’t get distracted.
I don’t like it when I get upset and the other children keep looking at me.
I feel happy now because I am growing up and I don’t cry anymore.
Jolene (Year 3)
Learning Keys is a fun place to be. I like all the fun activities that we have done like Easter cards, Father’s day cards, fun wordsearches and making a paper plate analogue clock. I also like it when we do our own work in our own workbooks because I like writing even though my hands hurt sometimes.
Another reason why I like writing in my workbook is because that we are brilliant with our learning.
What I don’t like is when our work is checked and it looks untidy after.
I also don’t like it when you shout because it makes me upset but now I realise that you speak in a stern voice because you want us to do the right thing and get better in our learning.
I am looking forward to learning more fun things and making more friends at Learning keys.
Ella (Year 5)
I like coming to Learning keys because it helps me refresh my brain when I am learning. Also, it gives me opportunities to learn new things such as collective nouns, proper, improper and mixed fractions as well as solving tricky problems in Maths.
The tutors are really kind and helpful. They help me understand things in a simpler way. Mrs Simone also gives me private lessons and I feel this is extremely helpful because it will help me prepare well for my SATS in Year 6 next year.
Also, I enjoy coming to learning Keys because I get to talk to my friends at lunch time and I get to eat my favourite sushi as well. This is a highlight for me because my friends are kind, funny and talkative. However, I don’t like it when lunchtime comes to an end because I have to go back to doing hard work. Even though I don’t really like school, I understand that it is necessary and healthy because it makes my brain stronger.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
Although it is always good to be here, I feel there can be room for improvement like spending more time on ‘Daily 10 mental maths’ on the compute- but on second thoughts, now that we have our own personal laptops (thanks to Learning Keys) we can get our own personal time table and practice more at home. I think we should be involved in National and Global Competitions like World Maths Day and Spelling competitions with other children around the world. I think this will go a long way to helping to share our learning. I also think we should have some out door trips to places like the Science Museum and picnics in the parks in summer.
Oh! I almost forgot! I like when we get prizes in ‘Learning Keys’ for doing well in our learning. So if you get 3 golden tickets for good behaviour or excellent work, you get a surprise present. So far, I have only one golden ticket so I have to try harder to get 2 more. I will continue to do my very best.
Theshnavee (Year 5)
On my first day at ‘Learning Keys’, I was shy but I knew that I would be fine. The next week I came, I made so many friends who made me laugh. Their names are: Nevaeh, Cameron and Menen. I knew I was just going to love it! My teachers are: Mrs Simone, Ms Aberna, Ms Stephanie and Mrs Nike. I really enjoyed getting 3 golden tickets and a surprise that I wasn’t expecting!
As soon as I arrived, I knew that I didn’t like how people distracted me. Apart from that, I liked everything about ‘Learning keys’. I particularly liked how everyone helped each other.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
I think we need more people to join us because as they say, ‘the more the merrier’. It would also mean that I would get to make more friends. We could also have some outdoor trips to help our learning like going to ‘The Imperial War Museum’. I also think we could play ‘Hit the button’ as well as ‘Daily 10’ because you can do it in groups.
THINGS I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO
I am looking forward to having more resources to help me improve better in my maths learning like protractors and laptops going to Year 6(Oh! I forgot that we were given free laptops in Learning Keys-how could I have forgotten that?) I am looking forward to more challenging work, outdoor trips and moving up to Year 6.
Cameron (Year 4)
When I first came to ‘Learning Keys’, I was lonely and did not know what to expect. Here at learning keys, we learn lots of subjects like Maths and English and good manners.
I love Learning keys because I get to make new friends and get great resources to help me learn better. A real highlight for me at Learning keys was when The Dons Local Group donated laptops to all of us! At the time, the man (Mr Cliff) and the councillor came to present it to us, I was so excited that I almost forgot to give Ms Joan Henry the ‘Thank you’ card which I made for her!
The laptop I was given helps me a ton! Now I can learn and play games on it -one of the games I play is ‘Times tables Rockstars and guess what? I got 40/40 in my Year 4 Times table tests.
One thing I don’t like is when students leave because I don’t get to say ‘goodbye and it leaves me being the only boy. I don’t like being the only boy-Instead, I would like more students to join because ‘the more students, the merrier it would be!’
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
I would like us in Learning Keys to have more educational trips or famous authors visiting us on World Book Day like Ted Huges, Michael Morpurgo and Michael Mann. I think Learning Keys would be way more amazing if these people visit us. Also did you know that learning keys provide us with worksheets that supply our learning in maths, English and comprehension? These and more is what make ‘Learning Keys super. Thank you.
Nevaeh (Year 6)
My time at ‘Learning Keys has been remarkable. I have improved massively in my learning in the past year and I feel so proud of myself and so grateful to all the teachers who have helped me.
At first, I didn’t know what to expect but let’s just say that things turned out much better than I expected.
Just by regularly attending once every Saturday, my handwriting and Maths improved so much than when I first came. It’s almost as if ‘Learning Keys became a problem solver for all the problems I had!
One of the highlights for me at Learning keys was when we made hot-air balloons out of cardboard paper. It was my favourite because we got to be arty, crafty and creative not just learning only Maths and English.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
I think one area to improve on would be to have more children coming to learn because since some children move houses, it means there are less children coming.
However, even though I get to go to Karate for one hour or 2 hours at 10am in the morning, I still come to learn at learning keys after my Karate lessons because Learning keys is so great!
Learning Keys is definitely an amazing place to be.
